Dos Rios State Park--Pond Loop Trail
eBird - Traveling Count, 328mins, 07:40 AMWalked a loop N of the pond and parking lot. We followed the main trails through scrubby upland with lots of baby trees. A few mature Valley Oaks and cottonwoods along the E edge and by the Tuolumne River. Clear skies with a few clouds, mostly at the beginning. 47-60 F, 5 mph winds, vegetation covered in dew to start out. Valley Oaks still have their leaves as do most Boxelder, but most willow and cottonwood leaves are gone. Herbaceous perennials mostly dead, and there were big dense thickets of dry brown Grindelia and Artemisia douglasiana. Lots of deer and raccoon foot prints, 2 Fox Squirrels heard and 1 seen, 4 Beechey's Squirrels, 2 Pond Turtles, 1 Red Eared Slider, 3 Common Green Darner, 4 Variegated Meadowhawks, many cabbage whites, one buckeye.b
